The integration of battery technology with other advanced technologies has enabled it to perform more energy storage functions while at the same time giving it more new features. This is one of the frontiers and directions for current battery R&D. An electrochromic battery is a new type of battery that is made by combining battery technology and electrochromic technology. It has unique color change characteristics and can display the battery capacity by its own color difference. It is established between the user and the battery. An interactive interface. However, as a new research field, electrochromic cells are facing many challenges at present, and their capacity, charging time, and cycle stability are not ideal.
Recently, Zhao Zhigang's research group at the Suzhou Institute of Nanotechnology and Nanobionics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a high-capacity, fast-charging electrochromic cell. This type of battery uses tungsten oxide (W18O49) nanowires and metal aluminum as positive and negative electrodes, respectively, and has unique new advantages: (1) It can establish an interface with the user to identify the capacity by color change, and the power in the transparent state In the full state, the color gradually turns blue to mark the start of consumption of storage power, and the darkest color indicates the depletion of power; (2) The battery can be charged by adding a small amount of hydrogen peroxide (8s full charge), or it can use the traditional external power supply. Charging and use of oxygen in the air to achieve self-charging; (3) more than 6 times the battery capacity of similar batteries. The research results have been published in the international journal Angew. Chem. Int. Ed, opening up a new path for the future development of electrochromic batteries.
